My Hollywood Neighborhood

When I started out on this rainy day my intent was to photogragh my favorite houses. In a seven block stretch between Waring and Romaine, La Brea and Vista there are what I call the classic old Los Angeles courtyard bungalow's. I have always loved this type of architecture, so before I knew it I drove around and found fourteen. Here they are, in the rain, some looking sad, a couple just plain depressing, and others beautiful and elegant.

I love the photos. The houses look good all wet and moist with dew. I esp. love the "day of the locust" house.

did you ever know of Lava Lady? Her house was black and covered in Lava rock. She wore 8 inch platform, tie up boots and a crazy tall hair-do, dressed in black and was thin as a rail. Probably about 80 years old.

There was a story that her father had been someone big and well know at one of the studios around town in the 20s. She was worth millions. I think she's since died. But I had freinds who dressed up as her one Halloween. She was a legend around those parts.
