RUNNING AWAY TO MY DREAM HOUSE

If I ran away, I could see myself living here in this house on Galveston Island. I would sit in my air conditioned room, sip bourbon and write short stories all day long and let all my troubles drift away.

Our I would live here, in New Orleans, in this Shotgun and have numerous love affairs all ending tragically without guilt.

Better yet, I could live far from the maddening crowd in this abandoned house with a friendly owl, two deer, and giant moth.

Chances are, I'll stay here in Hollywood.

Although, wouldn't it be romantic to be caught in the rain in this house. Waiting for the sun but hoping for darker clouds.

If you could run away, which house would your dreams be kept and why? 1.2.3.4.5.or 6.

I would take the NOLA shotgun. I would paint the cobwebs silver and set out to help so many people's unrealized dreams come true.

#3.

3 is my favorite number and i've always wanted to live in an old farmhouse situation that is out in the middle of nowhere so i wouldn't have to worry about anyone coming to my front door except maybe clint eastwood looking for directions to the nearest covererd bridge and then i'd have to let him in and mix him a lemonade and oh my...what was the question?

#2 It I love the look, and it has that feel you summed up about shot gun ending trists... You'd almost expect Stanley & Stella Kowalski to be the people living next door on a street named "Desire".

I would choose #3 for all its window openings and solitude. Very relaxing and inspiring not to mention the animal neighbors.

But #1 is just so darn cute I could stay there a very long time. The colors alone perk my imagination.

Wonderful post!

I think I'd have to go for #6. It's so charming. I could shop the antique stores of New Orleans by day and do a little voodoo at night. I hope it's cooler there today. It finally cooled down here in OKC this week. I hate to tell you but the weather is just divine at the moment. Of course it won't be long till it will be cold. Seems we don't get many of the inbetween days.

I would love to run away to a little cottage by the sea right now.

You know me, I'd do Hollywood. =)

But I love the idea of having space around me. No neighbors close enough to hear. That would be wonderful....

I would take Hollywood. I lived, with another man & 2 canines, in a 700 sq ft former houseboat in Seattle for 15 years. I liked living small. I thought about you this week when I saw weather reports for L.A.! Hope you are cool, real cool.

I love an old house. Use to live in a shotgun house so that would probably be my pick.

It seems I'm not the only one dreaming of rain, fairy dust, animals that talk, solitude, and a place to hide, although some of us dream of actors, our one certain actor, who dances with them around the kitchen table. Remember what they say, desire is the opposite of death. Which is why, my dear friends, they call it the Street Car Named Desire.

I love the affairs that end tragically, without guilt. Especially when they never really get over me. Such cool old houses, and the stories they tell.

If I could runaway to my dream home would be in New Awlins. It is just so beautiful and mysterious there. I havent been back since Katrina. And I sure do miss her. Soon I shall go back to her for a visit....Julian

Kevin...Having been out of touch for the last two months, it was so wonderful to come back to a posting on one of my favorite sites about one of my favorite things: full blown decadent decay!
Excellent post......K
