A STEAMY AFFAIR
About two weeks ago I flew to New York to help my niece and her husband decorate, design, and make their new third floor walk up apartment in the East Village chic, hip, and cheerful. All the while a heat wave settled on the city like nobodies business. Picture it, subways and cabs to Brooklyn, walking, walking, and more walking ( remember I live in L.A.), SUV's delivery services (only to the front door), furniture cleaned in the street, rugs, dishes, lamps, mirrors, furniture and you name it taken up three flights of stairs. All of this in three days in a heat wave, well, Uncle Kevin almost died.
I will show the results of the apartment soon enough, what I really wanted to share with you is that I met Stan Williams the writer and creator of the book The Find. Stan is elegant and funny and giving and most of all he has the most wonderful blog called the The Elegant Thrifter, it's smart, fun, and a treasure hunter's dream. Check out this link and see what Stan has to say about our meeting.

AMERICAN GHOSTS
This is a new series called American Ghosts. These portraits are late 19th century photos enhanced in charcoal. This enhancement was common in that period which creates a strange haunting quality I love. This is in honor of all the immigrants coming to America for freedom, past and present, happy Independence Day.
