Orcas Island, Washington State is where I've been, in hiding. Well, at least it felt that way, no phones ringing, no driving, far from maddening crowd, it was.
I have never been to the Pacific Northwest, so when we were invited by my clients and friends we jumped.
Actually it was more like this: car, shuttle, airplane, shuttle, airplane (this plane no bigger than a sofa), car, boat, guest house. You think I'm kidding, I'm not and you know what, the weird thing was the traveling was part of the fun.
The guest house.
It seems water and wide open spaces is what this kid needed and of course a generous kind hostess who did all the rowing, which I discovered takes a certain talent which I don't posses.
Of course a house in ruin is always found and this one is a jewel. Knowing me you can imagined how I felt when I saw this house and it's real, too.
Our own personal water taxi, who could beat that and did I mentioned an amazing cook as well. OK, so let me be spoiled for a long weekend, I'll still have to go home and wash my own clothes.
The star fish were like I have never seen before, bright orange and purple and gold. Eagles flying over the trees, the trees so very thick, the moss so very thick, the deer, the otters, oh my! nature everywhere I looked was truly a gift. A gift to restore this urbanites sanity. So there you have it, that's where I've been. Now I must sign off, and go clean my kitchen and do the laundry.

I confess, I lied. This is not an abandoned house high in the hills. It's a miniature, a built set, a doll house manipulated to look like a ruined forgotten dream. So that's that, my guilt is lifted. You guys comments were so inspiring, so wonderful, I thought I better explain.
So express yourself, your voice counts. Your comments are always insightful, surprisingly candid, generous, and always appreciated.
